Overview:
Join us for a community forum to discuss how changes in iron mining, including idled operations, may impact local budgets. This session is geared toward city, township, county and school district
elected officials and staff.

Presenters will share the latest production tax projections and provide insight into what these changes could mean for local funding. The forum will also offer time for open discussion, questions and community feedback, creating an opportunity to share perspectives and identify what support may be needed as communities plan ahead.

The same information will be shared at each session. Please attend the session that best fits your
schedule and preferred location.

  • Wednesday, April 22, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    •  Hibbing/Chisholm Location: Mineland Reclamation, Chisholm
  • Monday, May 11 – Virginia/Mt. Iron – 5:00 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.
    • Location: Mesabi Range College, Virginia Campus Theater
  • Wednesday, May 13 – Biwabik/Aurora – 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
    • Location: Aurora Community Center

  • Overview of iron ore markets (20 min)
  • Production tax projections and potential budget impacts (15 min)
  • Planning and discussion (45 min) – Panel discussion on community impacts, with time for questions and input from attendees
